The Transitional National Legislature passed FY 2024/2025 National Budget and Financial Bill in its Third, Fourth and Final Reading Stage chaired by Rt. Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba, the Speaker of the TNL. The Members of Parliament also deliberated on the FY 2024/2025 Appropriation Bill in its Third, Fourth and Final Reading Stage.
The Draft National Budget, 4.2 trillion South Sudan pounds was passed by the August House. The directed the Ministry of Finance and Planning to clear salaries and wages arrears for the civil servants and foreign Missions.
The Lawmakers urged the Finance Ministry to release Peace budget to the Ministry of Peace-building for the implementation of peace in South Sudan.
The August House directed the Ministry of Finance and Planning to fast-track and incorporate the retention expenditure of the Revenue Generating Agencies on financial quarterly report.
The Transitional National Legislature directs that the Ministry of Petroleum to construct a medium size refinery and storage facility in Adar/Guelguk for regional markets and operationalizes Bentiu refinery for domestic consumption.
The Members of Parliaments also urged for increase of funds in following sectors education, health and agriculture.
